Re: 67 Chevelle SS hood - original GM
First thing...moderators can you please drop the Acadian word from the thread title as aside from the early exceptions, Acadians are Novas...not Chevelle based Beaumonts as this topic was about....thanks! .
That aside, thanks for your input Mac...interesting stuff and sure sounds like some cool pieces were rolling around your area back in the day! . Where are you, mainland or Cape? . And to clarify, are you saying there was a '67 Beaumont delivered new w/ an L36...and this car is long gone or??? . Do you know if it was supposedly built w/ this or was a dealer mod...and you'd think if either, it'd be an L72? . If gone or not, can you get the Vin of this vehicle? . Makes me think of a '67 Beaumont SD rag that was rolling around here years back...had a ghastly bowtie shaped rear window in it...do you remember this car Keith, I think it was black? . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif ~ Pete |
Re: 67 Chevelle SS hood - original GM
Hi Pete:
I am in the cape. Of the three I knew of here the only one left is the original small block 4spd car. He sold it two years ago after having it for 30 plus years.Lets just say he had no choice it was the SD or the vet. Frame and suspension were completed, body was done and in primer. One hole about as big as a quarter in a back panel. It was always in his fathers basement which was heated so you can imagine how good it was.He had the 396 complete out of the yellow one along with extra muncie, shifter etc. The black one was very rusty when it was parted out. He had the hood off it but it had holes accross the front lip and I think the extra console was out of the black one. It will be interesting to see what the car resurfaces as.We are going back to the early 80's here when the others were parted. I bought bits and pieces off him usually at the local flea market that is how I got the air cleaner, etc.Back then no one liked beaumonts. Do they now??? On the black one word was he ordered it with the 427 new no one ever disputed that. He drove the car every day to work winters included. It also had ps, disc brakes and rally wheels. I still have the flat gm centers, most of the ps if she was the one with a canister and maybe two calipers. I will ask about the vin just in case. Anyway here is the air cleaner. You can see by the 25.00 I paid. it was a few years ago. Also looks like the crapy GM flash chrome to me. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/102_9988.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/102_9989.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/102_9991.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...s/102_9992.jpg |
Re: 67 Chevelle SS hood - original GM
Good stuff Joe...I sent you a PM w/ something you should read. .
Love how there's what's left of the Astro-Jet sticker on that air cleaner lid! . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif ~ Pete |
Re: 67 Chevelle SS hood - original GM
I had a '66 Sport Deluxe 396 Beaumont. The original owner added the Turbo Jet 396 cross flag emblems to the fenders. They only came L34, bucket seats, and console. All Beaumonts came with the standard hood. All V8 cars came with the V8 emblem regardless of engine size. Nice sleeper look. The '67 SD396 cars got the SS Chevelle style hood along with louvres on the quarter panel. I don't think that GM ever put 427s in the Beaumonts. I probably would have had one had they done that.

Re: 67 Chevelle SS hood - original GM
In '66 the big block Beaumonts only came in the L34 open element flavor. This would be for an L35 car.

Re: 67 Chevelle SS hood - original GM
Here's a nice eBay brochure showing the '67 Beaumont w/ the BB hood...must be the later release brochure as mentioned by Helmut? .
Check the guy's other items as well as he has some other beautiful Canadian car brochures too! . http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...s_promot_widget To add to this whole subject, there's no way you could add a BB hood to a SB car is there...I mean as a factory shipped RPO item, not dealer installed? . I'm talking Chevelles 66/67 and the 68/69's now, not just the Canadian Beaumonts? . Remember back when everyone used to say the stinger hoods were never shipped on '67 Vette SB cars...helps prove we can always learn something new!?! . * Wish someone could drop the 'Acadian' word from the title here and stick 'Beaumont' in it's place...'64 exception aside, Acadians are Canadian Novas and Beaumonts the Chevelles! . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: 67 Chevelle SS hood - original GM
Hi Pete:
Down in the Cape I don't remember any 66 or 68/69 chevelles small blocks with BB hoods originally but at the same time I paid little attention to these cars except as parts doners. Just were not my thing at the time. Two close friends had 67 chevelles so I watched all the time for 67's. As a result I remember three SB cars with BB hoods, one is still here today with the original owner Gold 283 Malibu with a bench seat, no options, last time I seen it original paint, hood Gm painted flat black definately he added it.(So that one is out) Car might have 20,000 miles. He is a unique dude. Drives it so much the motor seized about 5 years ago and they had to overhaul it. Car is perfect however. One real close family friend bought a 67 chevelle for his wife that was 6 months old, his pal bought it new, hated the way it drove and traded for a full size all in 67. They kept this chevelle driving it daily even the winters for over 33 years. I remember begging her to let us put a BB in it but she would not hear of it.I worked on this car and drove it may times but could never alter it. That car had a bunch of factory options Gold 2dr ht, gold bucket seat interior, with console and PG floor shifter, factory hanging tach, deleux belts, special steering wheel, PS, power disc brakes and ralley wheels. tinted glass, fr/rear bumper guards big ugly things in the back that tore your knees off. Motor was a 327 4bl, dual exhaust, front sway bar, posi rear( 10bolt I think). Big block hood, WW mouldings and bottom rocker chrome. No malibu side chrome nor was the front grill drilled for the bow tie emblem( car was never smashed). No SS emblems or blacked out items, small block 327 flags on front fenders. No malibu emblems either on the outside cannot remember what was on the dash.I helped sand this car when it got it's first paint job so know there were no holes covered in.She was parted in New Brunswick That car I would go to court with being supplied factory with the hood. The final one was black looked identical outside to the gold one same mouldings, raised hood, non drilled grill etc but was not a ss. This one was 2doorHT, black buckets, 4spd console muncie and 12 bolt posi, motor was the 325hp 327.He was the second owner buying it in 70 but was original paint.Like the gold one there was no indication of any Malibu mouldings ever being mounted etc. That one I also know the hood was original. She was totaled around 86. Ok now everone can kick me and say no way. We had one dealer down here that seemed to be able to access what no one else could. He was into Chevs and pont big time the stranger the better it seemed. |
