Re: 427 crank ?

He states that the 396 crank is 3/4" and the 427 is 7/8".
And my crossdrilled 7115 crank is 3/4" without a doubt. Just like the 6223 I have.

Re: 427 crank ?

454 steel cranks are #7415 , #7416, and #3521 ..There are a few more #s that are considered other casting #s for 454 steel but ive never seen one of them.

6223 is the 396 crank and the 7115 is the 427 crank.

Kim,

Not exactly. I know for a fact that many, if not all, of the L/71 engines
used the '6223 crankshaft. I'd bet that the L/72's did as well.
L/71's, L/72's, and L/78's all shared a very similar,
if not exact piston dome.

I believe that the '7115 crankshaft ( aside from the actual
inherant strength ) has beefier counterweights because the
L-88 & ZL-1 pistons had monster domes.

I've never heard of a '7115 crank being factory installed
in anything but the badest of the bad. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif Unless I'm
wrong, that = L-88 & ZL-1 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif

That could be true Colven doesn't say what 427. I never thought about the L-88 & zl-1 only . https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif
