Re: Ebay Problem...Has this happened to you?

Here's an update.

I emailed two reports since I first discovered the problem and as of Friday morning have not heard anything back on those reports or even an acknowledgement of them.

I called the number yesterday that Rich provided and after 12 minutes on hold, while I was catching up on paperwork at the office, I was able to speak to a live person. I explained what happened and I was asked for information like address and so forth so they could verify. I set this account up over 5 years ago. The information I provided does not match the info Ebay now has. I haven't moved either office or home in that time period so, to me, it seems as if someone has changed that info in Ebay when they stole my account. Since I could not verify the info that Ebay "has on file" they told me they would send me a email to direct me to the security division. It's now 19 hours later and I still have not received that email.

That is because they also changed your e-mail account listing so you will not get it but they will..... What a crappy deal for you.

Check your credit card statements for charges from ebay. If the person who hijacked the account is selling on ebay, the seller fees will be charged to your credit card.

I finally was able to get through to Ebay and "speak" with someone. Turns out someone did indeed attempt to hijack my account but Ebay shut the account down before any damage could be done. Credit card accounts and pay pal accounts all are intact.

I will give Ebay credit for being proactive and suspeneding the account when they realized someone was trying to hijack it but it took way too much time in sorting this thing out. There's got to be an easier way.

Many thanks to Rich and all the others that offered up some very good advice. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif

Re: Ebay Problem...Has this happened to you?

eBay did this same thing to me a couple of years ago but only a couple of hours after the hijacker had sold a laptop computer for about $1000 on a Buy-It-Now. They (eBay) did not tell the buyer of the laptop that my account was hijacked. The buyer wired the hijacker the money.
Why they did not tell the buyer, I'll never know.
The guy lost over a grand and wanted me to refund him his money.
Oh ya, took a week before eBay contacted me with the info and let me back on eBay. After that, I changed all my passwords to a combination of letters and digits that have no meaning. They are the hardest passwords for these scumbags to break, after a couple of tries, they'll just leave it alone and go find an easier target.
