Re: Dave C's 70 Monte Carlo
I just have to tell this story about a 70 monti. One friday night in 1985 my friend and I went to a Donut shop in Bradford Ontario Canada We went in his 1970 chevelle ss red with black stripes. This donut shop was a haven for midnight all night drag racing at its best. Just as soon as we got there I started talking to a fellow about the 70 chevelle, he tells
me he has a cluster from a 70 monti and did I want to buy it How much I says, he says 25.00 Canadian before I can say yes yes yes my friend buts in and says I'll take it Peter you already have one. He goes home and brings it back to the donut shop It was a 6500 redline just like mine.My friend still has it in his car today . I often thought about that monti because he told me he had the body but not the motor and he was parting it out.It was a 4 speed car. I regreted not bying the whole car and not just the cluster Oh well! suprss70 |
Re: Dave C's 70 Monte Carlo
Cool car!!! Spoke to Dave when he was selling his other Monte awhile back, nice guy. It's nice to see the non-typical muscle cars get their fair share of the lime light. Good kuck with your Monte Dave, looks like you have a good car wash crew...

Nice car you don't see every day. Beautiful lines on those '70-'72 Montes.

"First engine I ever blew up was my mom's '71 350 Monte"
My first blown tranny was my Dad's 1977 Monte. Tan/Tan. Man he loved that car! "We" were reving it up in neutral and dropping it into drive! Had to push it home. Man did I get a beating on that one! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif Guess I am due for some payback when my son gets older! Rich |
Re: Dave C's 70 Monte Carlo
Very nice car. I also love to see the unusual cars in the spotlight. Did anyone else find it funny that the AM radio and tape player cost more than the engine? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Re: Dave C's 70 Monte Carlo
Thanks for all the nice replies https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
....I think the first generation Monte Carlo's are really under-appreciated https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif ....but I guess it has one good point...I can still afford them. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif I plan on driving this one up to GM Carlisle in June, as the FGMCC (First Generation Monte Carlo Club) is having its national meet there this year, I look forward to meeting many of you there! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Re: Dave C's 70 Monte Carlo

Re: Dave C's 70 Monte Carlo
If COPO Pete would quit hoggin' the computer and let his boys do a little looking around, I betcha they'd be all over this thread! BBC, 4-speed, in a Monte...awesome!
Those pics of the little guy washing it are priceless... |
