You'd also have to feel for the poor blue-collar guy who saves and saves and puts his deposit down on Chief Red Breast's Yenko only to lose it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

I was thinking the same thing Canuck. Maybe after the "cars for sale" and "parts for sale" /ebay could be added. I don't think we need an ebay gripe section but I do think we need somewhere to condense all the ebay stuff; Just to keep the boards neat. JMHO, Marc

Amen!

No need to clutter-up the forums with Ebay. Create a seperate forum for those who want to wallow around in the Ebay non-sense.

Lets keep this board open and honest.

What does everyone think? I think this main forum should be only for the discussion of Chevy musclecars and supercars or things pertaining to them. I think there should be a new section for general discussion about Ebay and the various scams.

I do enjoy reading about what is going on on Ebay and things to watch for when buying and selling but I think this section should be all about the cars, car stories, car questions, cars found in barns, etc.....

Craig,I agree. The NECOA(elky owners)forum has a dedicated section for Ebay stuff and it works well.If you're not into it just pass-unlike here where it's randomly sprinkled over a half dozen topics and pretty much unavoidable.I've bought over a hundred items and never been burned bad,(good luck certainly)and got some parts that otherwise never would have had the chance through any other medium.. plus you get to see kewl cars like that 427 Kingswood wagon that went through a few days ago.

The clones and scammers are out of control, but it still has some redeeming value for me anyway.I have yet to see a high dollar GM period car on ebay go through without someone here knowing something about the correctness/and or history of it and that's strong.I almost got burned on a 70 Z on ebay couple of years ago had it not been for a kind soul on the second gen thread e/m'ing me before the end of the auction-

Bottom line is that I think most members are sick of seeing E-bay scam in every other thread on this site. I am for sure one of them. No disrespect to any members that like this sort of thing... I Vote we either have a seperate forum section for them or members please stop posting EVERY ONE! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif

Frank,
I vote for a new section too, but as far as "posting EVERY ONE!" -- that would be a stretch. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif
I reported seven bogus auctions to eBay last week and 2 other sYc members and I have traded-off emails from 4 more. Plus I'm currently baiting another one. That's a dozen in the past week that weren't reported here.
The ones that are posted here seem to be the most dramatic of the scams, i.e. Yenko/COPO cars and a Ram Air IV Judge. Probably because none of us can believe that others would fall for an auction involving a completely-restored '69 Z/28 for $7K.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif

I think the scam discussions will fade after awhile. After 5 baits I'm realizing how futile it is to attempt to thwart these jerks. I baited the SAME GUY 3 straight times and he's still at it - despite 3 reports to eBay and law enforcement. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

But a "buyer beware" forum isn't a bad idea for ONE REASON: these scammers are always looking for a new angle, and one of these days they're gonna nail one of us, unless we are diligent in keeping up with their latest scam techniques.

Re: We need a new forum section for Ebay discussions

I still say we need to scrap the idea of using an entire section of bandwidth for this "ebay scam" garbage. Why devote a whole new section to link auctions to cars everyone on this site already knew were scams? No one that frequents this website is gonna fall for these things anyhow. I've seen these other sites with a whole section of ebay ranting. If these folks think they are playing dectective and saving the day by showing us every ebay scam, then they become nearly as annoying as the scammers themselves. I agree with Frank, we don't need a link to every "Buy it Now" 5000.00 restored 69 Camaro, Nova, or Chevelle anyone finds on ebay. I don't think anyone on this board is "saved" by these posts, and as I said in an earlier post, the auctions are usually pulled before most site members even click on the link. Personally, I think if someone is dumb enough to think they can buy a Yenko Camaro by sending someone in some foreign country a deposit, and sitting on the dock to wait for their car to arrive, they deserve to lose their money. Someone said there are other sites with these forums on them, I say go post all this stuff on those sites. Let this site be used for the discussion of supercars.

Re: We need a new forum section for Ebay discussions

And I reinforce what Cjoe is saying, and also if you have ANYTHING to ask or say about something on Ebay, include EBAY into your topic title...I.E."Is this Aluminum Intake real?"-EBAY.
Then we can choose not to click it,if it is something we are not interested in participating in.
A seperate Ebay forum seems like a waste of bandwidth to me.

Re: We need a new forum section for Ebay discussions

I think that IF there is a forum started for this type of thing, it should be an AUCTION forum. It should be for all auctions, not just Ebay. Or better yet, it should be for any item for sale that is not being sold by a member here wheather it be real or a scam.
Just my opinion.

Instead of creating a new Forum...someone just start an Auction thread in the Lounge and keep posting them there from now on we can make it a sticky post...thats what the lounge is for anyway... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
