Re: Pure Stock Drags
You guys were flying!! With those et's and mph's, it feels impossible to ever catch up when your car only runs mid 14's. I have a huge learning curve!

Re: Pure Stock Drags
M: don't sweat the numbers, we ALL have to start somewhere! That's the beauty of this event...there's no ladder & no prizes, so you run want you run. The satisfaction comes from getting the most out of your particular combo, and making do with what ya got. And like you said, there is a HUGE learning curve, and we're all still on it...some people are just closer to the apex! (think COPO Pete!!)
Anyway, it was some darn good air, but I wish we'd had the hook we had at Gateway...that's the kicker, you get good air, but on the skinnys the extra power makes it even more *fun* off the line! If we'd have had the Stanton air and Gateway prep, I'd have gotten my .20s and Pete woulda gone 11s... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif |

Re: Pure Stock Drags
I had a great time. A bit nerve racking at times, but wouldn't have done it any other way. 790 miles racked up driving my '69 Hurst/Olds to the race, running an all time best of [email protected] with a car weighing in at 4200 lbs with driver, running 3.23 gears, and having all of the a/c stuff hooked up, then driving back. Little tired of the hot start issues that I had with the car, but it was worth the time and effort. Ran my receipts for gas going up and back, right at $300! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

Rusty,
My hats off to you for driving the car so far. She's a beauty and it's not a lot of fun putting the miles on the car.The race format sure is fun. For those who haven't done it, it sure is addicting. JIM https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif |
Re: Pure Stock Drags
Wow! Very cool that you drove to the track, raced, drove home - over 700 miles!!
