OK, I am guessing the 'conversion' refers to adding the 396 and the heads. You will notice in his description: 'ORIGINAL V-8 AUTOMATIC EQUIPPED WITH...' meaning the car could have come from the factory with a 350 engine.

I dont understand why guys make their cars seem less legitimate by making their ads not 100% clear. If the 396 was added say so. You are agreeing to buy a car from someone you dont know solely based upon pictures. You have to be able to trust that person. I wouldnt trust someone who words their ad so as to deceive. Explain what the 'conversion' is! Dont merely alude to it. The car appears to be a nice car. Let it sell on it's own merits not based on something it really isnt.

Hey Brian;
Was this '69 Chevelle a 'post' car? I think I ran into one a few years ago at Hershey, it was fathom green, bench seat, a/t on the column. Cool car.

The theory on the L89 Novas is that we can't say none were produced, nor can we say that any were! The option list certainly supports the possibility, and the weight savings of the Nova over the Camaro - plus the weight savings of alum. heads, would certainly be attractive to a serious drag racer back in '68-'70 despite the added cost. I think most Nova guys presume that a few were built, but we have never come across any - nor any paperwork/block codes for one. Most agree that of the few that were built, they were used for drag racing, their originality/paperwork would be long gone, and therefore none are found.

It's a killer combo, especially with an a/t - just ask Robbins, Brewer, and Johnson
Just my $.02.

-------I went to Ohio U. From 66 to 69 and since I lived outside of Cleveland,when I went home on weekends I would pass right by Bob McDorman Chevrolet.I cant remember wether it was 68 or 69,but on one(of many)trips to his dealership to check his amazing stock of Vettes and musclecars,there was a row of at least ten L-89 Novas.They were all strippers other than muscle options,but they were all posativly L-89s!I have often wondered what happened to all those Novas.Dont think I have ever seen another one but I havent gone out of my way to check out big block Novas that I have seen either.Bobs dealership is still going strong in the same location,so its entirely possible that paperwork exists for those cars............Bill S

Bill,
That's great news, now if somebody in that part of the country can start checking maybe a(some)car(s) will get found. Thanks for the info.

I believe I saw this car yesterday at the COrvette and High Performance swap meet in Puyallup, WA. It is a real solid looking car, appearing to be well-restored, and had a $25K asking price. That L89 motor sure is pretty! Also a nice fresh, bucket seat / console / four-speed interior...
Would make a nice driver for $20K!
