Wow!!
|
What a beautiful 62 Vette to add to your collection . To say I am envious is an understatement.
|
Was the car originally delivered to a dealership in Bloomington, IL?

I spent the last day on the 62. Checking numbers, changing fluids, checking valve lash, adjusting steering box lash, adjusting brakes, setting timing, and laying in a tune that it seems to like.........
https://i.imgur.com/AjBYiTdh.jpg An of course, the best part! https://i.imgur.com/UDK4fugh.jpg There is some work ahead though. No good deed goes unpunished. 2nd gear is kinda crunchy (typical T10 BS), the throttle shaft bushings are kind tight, the Wonderbar is dead (I knew that), the clock is dead too (I knew that also). I've got a good T10 guy (not everyone can get these right) and that will be a good time for a new clutch (chatters just a bit more than I'd like). I've got a punch list of some small items for the car that I'll be searching for such as..... 1. Nice survivor oil filter canister 2. Nice original / NOS dual window distributor cap 3. Nice original right side spark plug shield In all, I'm thrilled with the car:smile: |
Yesterday, I got the trans and clutch out of the 62. What a mess! I neglected to take a picture of it, but the top 3rd of the trans was undercoated along with the the rest of the car:crazy:
The pic of the shifter and trans tunnel should tell the story https://i.imgur.com/tl5B8sKh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BWbraN3h.jpg After 3 hours of hand cleaner, diesel fuel, scraping, steam cleaning, rinse, wash, and repeat. It's cleaned up now. I have it packed up in the crate and it gets picked up tomorrow. https://i.imgur.com/r1ec5Mzh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CNliJqfh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zDZvKlwh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/wwAt6sQh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PBhl4X3h.jpg |
You work too fast.

Love it Tim. Great score and we're excited for your to enjoy some miles with it.
Nothing like a 340hp SBC with manual trans and 4.10s!! |
Here is a progress pic from removing the undercoating. I am doing the trans tunnel, as so much of it won't accessible for dry ice blasting once it's all together. As you can see, there is a bunch of tedious removal yet to go.
I should have the transmission back tomorrow, and hopefully the clutch and flywheel by the end of the week. https://i.imgur.com/wNY7WJ5h.jpg |
