Dave

1969 Camaros were built from August of 68 through November of 1969. A strike delayed the 1970 Model. I would say they were still building cars in Oct of 1969

The 1969 Camaro production was extended due to a union strike, delaying the start of the 1970 model year.Meaning the 1969 Camaro was built for an extended period lasting from August 1968 through November 1969.As the strike significantly impacted the production timeline, essentially adding several months to the production run of the 1969 model.

That has been repeated so often it seems to have become fact.

There was NO strike at Norwood. The 1970 Camaro/Firebird launch was delayed due to the failure of the quarter panel tooling. All of it was scrapped and new tooling built.

This per John Z, who was there at the time.

1969 Camaro production resumed August 11, 1969 and ended November 7, 1969.

Thanks for the correction William.I knew about the 1/4 panel delay, and there was a strike in 69' too.I always believed that same strike is what caused the delay of the 1/4 panels.
I now read the strike happened ONLY @ the Van Nuys assembly plant, and ONLY from mid April to mid June.
So it had nothing to do with the newly designed 1970 Camaro 1/4 panel delay @ all.

Correct. There were only two strikes during first gen production.
Jan-Feb 67 at NOR and May-June 69 at LOS.

The 1/4 dies cause a wrinkle in the 1/4 and Fisher tried multiple times to repair it. Eventually they made a whole new die - major launch disaster and lots of scrambling to keep the 69 in production (cause suppliers were winding down).
