Is it odd to have zip code where date normally is?

Zip code on the protectoplate? Some dealers did include that with the date of sale after.

The first protectoplate show is a replacement, which is why it doesn't have the carb code. Most of the replacements I have seen look just like that and the color codes are often funky. Someone at the dealership had to fill out the form to request one and if they read the info wrong then wrote that, the plate would have goofs. Guy probably misread the suffix code as TL or his handwriting was hard to read on the form.

I've seen a few 66 and 67 replacements that had xxx for the color codes.

The original owner probably lost the original book.

If you're referring to an S on the engine VIN stamp, no there is not.

Do you know when this started? The engine in my 69 has the "S".

It officially started in 68 but some early 66 Corvettes had it and I’ve even got real 67 pads with an S on them

Most replacement warranty plates don’t have other data, such as engine, transmission, and rear end assembly codes on them. This one is throwing me.

The problem is that it appears to be in the original warranty book. I suppose that the plate could have been lost very early on before it left an imprint on the book from the original plate. Or this is the original filled with errors? I guess you could speculate that it is fake but the fake ones are not this bad! Who printed the plates? Did they come with the car or did the selling dealer stamp them?

Tim, This is an early replacement before the replacements you are referring to came out. The new format didn't have any drivetrain or color info.

Replacement plates were issues by Central Office
