Kurt-

Eric is running a cut down 163 in his Chevelle and it seems to do the trick.......I vote for the 163.

I'm not the only one...but I'm not at liberty to discuss who else is running a cut 163 lol.

Re: Intake Question

The carb is a 80496. It has a lot better throttle response than the 850 did plus, like I said, it runs better at the track.

This intake question is like asking which shifter is better, HurstRam Rod or Mr. Gasket V-Gate? lol I'm thinking of pulling the motor this winter and making some small changes then put it on the dyno. I think that would be the best time to see which intake works best. Otherwise the track.

Another thing I think about is how will the 163 intake work at 7000 rpms?

Thanks for the replies, Kurt

Re: Intake Question

Crazy deal but I did the exact thing with my L-88...I drag raced it for 10 year with the Tarantula and when I swapped the mill out of my race car and put it in my street car a put a 163 on it.

For the life of me I don't remember if the plenum was chopped out. It has instant throttle response and when it runs good has put up an 11.80 with DOT biters. Funny thing is I'd really like the car to pick up a tenth or two so I'm gonna slam the Tarantula back on for the track. They say the air gap is even better so I've had my eye out for a used one. I have a 427 stinger hood so clearance is not an issue.
