Re: BE rear
I have a CRW 0109B1 rear pulled from a weekend race car that is identical to 427king's stamp example. Just sayin...

Re: BE rear
I knew you would know Rick..thanks

Re: BE rear
The E in BE was not part of a gang stamp, most of the stamps I have collected the top is is out of line, and I would think it was a single stamp operation. The fact that it was not hit square is not a big deal.
Nice patina on this axle. JMO Mike |
Re: BE rear
The "D" to the left of the BE stamp is there too.

Re: BE rear
I agree with Mike that the B & E were stamped without a gang holder as they are never aligned. On the letter E both the upper and lower horizonal legs should be the same length. I cant tell in this picture.

Re: BE rear
I see a different metal displacement on the BE stamp than on all the other numbers. I don't think its the real deal.

Re: BE rear
It's hard to tell on my phone but the stamping on the BE, if you look inside the depressed area it does not seem to have the same pitting as the other stamps. Let me know if you could see it clearer on a larger screen

Re: BE rear
With the quality of forgers/restampers now and the 'correct info' that is out there, I would only buy a BE if it was as found (with original posi and gears) condition...or with a real good heritage.
Even the experts differ in opinion or get fooled sometimes as the parts get recycled and look old.. |
Re: BE rear
The seller has built a reputation and as always "buyer beware" . Adding patina to parts and documentation has been going on for a long time.

Re: BE rear
It's back, with a new story on how it was pulled from a black-on-red X44 COPO. Interestingly the trim tag pic is included in the auction. And the price is $4k higher than the last auction.
