Re: Cool engine find of the day.
Is the thermostat housing a corvette one? I have never seen one like that or never noticed it.

Re: Cool engine find of the day.
What a perfect engine to build around. .
A sleeper Nova , Malibu ,7 or 8 Camaro , 55 Chevy , even a 60's , 70's Hot Rod style Street Rod. That was the Hot Ticket back then.....Add a Corvette Power Plant with 11:1 compression. And Grin as no one suspected . |

The thermostat was used on 1964-1967 Corvette 327-350 and 365hp engines as well as 1965-1967 Chevelle L-79 and 1966 Nova L-79. |

Yes, I forgot about those two. |
Re: Cool engine find of the day.
1965 L79s w 461 intake had the thermo housing outlet point toward the passenger side as the upper radiator hose was on the passenger side.

Nope. '65-'67 Corvette L-79's ALL had the thermostat housing outlet and upper radiator hose on the driver's side, as all '63-'67 small-block Corvettes used the same radiator - no exceptions. Chevelle 461 intake utilized passenger side rad hose, 66/7 chevelle L79 used #490 intake and pointed to the drivers side radiator top hose . The corvette picture in your photo is the cast iron straight neck used from 63 up hi perf including fuel injection, not the one picd in the original posting . All corvette midyear small blocks used the same exact Harrison radiator. I was making a statement regarding that curved neck thermo housing shown and its applications on the two different aluminum L79 intakes. That housing was also used on L88s and 1965 396 425 corvettes but needed a thick spacer underneath it .......https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...-30206-l79.jpg |
Re: Cool engine find of the day.
62-5 corvette hi perf aluminum intake including FI 1962/ Intake #379 1963 Intake #149 340hp and 1965 Intake #461 365hp, all used the straight cast iron themostat housing #3827370, 1965 chevelles used the curved outlet #3827369 putting the upper rad hose on the passenger side on the 461 intake . 66/7 all corvette and chevelle used the curved neck on the #490 intake, and in all cases the upper rad hose was on the drivers side. 65 was the odd year for the waterneck , because the chevelle used a pass side upper rad hose, and the corvette kept using the straight neck houing so as to keep the upper rad hose on the drivers side. Harrison radiators for all small block midyear corvettes 1963-7 were identical .
