Cool article!

Bill, do you have pictures of the ones that you painted?

This is an old (actual original) 15x6 TT that was restored. Shot first with a dark gunmetal gray by the wheel restorer then fogged over by me with a rattle-can of silver argent to get that glistening "as-cast" look on the spokes:

Different wheel (a new, backdated 15x5 TTO) with the dark gray mentioned above:

The 15x8.5 (or were they 8s?) with the same argent silver treatment:

The car, since sold:

IMHO, out of the box new wheels, TTOs or whatever, can benefit from a little customizing with paint. It can set your car apart from the others and disguise new wheels as maybe being older versions.

In my opinion, the team III / ET Classic V looks the most authentic, and they can do the widest range of offsets. Expensive though!

Look at the picture of the cast 15x7 for a good idea of how they look.

for what its worth, I was the one that talked one of the previous owners of that white yenko into that tire and wheel setup. You can PM me if you want and I can try to find out what he ordered. That car to me just did not look great in the ralley wheels, and I finally got him to take the jump. I think that car looks great.

I usually go with the new 15X7 American TTOs with the natural finish on the spokes. They have been a little hard to get because of the finish but I have had the best of luck with the fit and quality of the wheels when I put them on a Camaro. Most of the time I run P215/65/15 or P225/60/15 with a little rubbing in front and I have run 255/60/15 in the back with a little rubbing depending on the car but I have run P245/60/15 with no problems. I have had better luck with the new wheels made in China than I have had with the originals because of the thick flanges on the originals.

Thanks Bruce. One of those cars I wish I had not sold. Non numbers matching big block SS/RS that I put a 540 in.
