Sorry but that's a cop-out being the words 'well documented' is included as part of Mecum's title line for the vehicle.
Not that bogus info on descriptions/paperwork/placards etc should be acceptable either but the auction co. shouldn't be letting consigners verse their titles too.
What of phone bidders who read info online etc but aren't there to hear verbal disclaimers?

My opinion, If you have this kind of wealth to purchase such a car; then you have the time, money, means and resources to vet it's authenticity.
Is this the car from Ledgendary motor's in canada?

Still, if Mecum knew or should have known about issues that would amount to fraud, I don't know that this will get them off the hook.

I have to respectfully disagree. It is OK to lie and cheat a wealthy guy just because he had the resources to stop you from cheating him, but chose to believe you? I don't think so.

Not saying that one SHOULDN'T have the car verified. Just saying the real blame shouldn't be on the rich guy who didn't discover the fraud. The real blame goes to the guy who COMMITTED the fraud.

If this car is counterfeit, then calling the docs "factory documentation" is fraud. Period.

Based on that pic, I don't believe the car pictured had a factory tach either.

I was looking over the auction this morning and ran across a rare 69 chevelle with matching numbers 396/375 that has factory air. and a cast intake. hmm. you would think someone at mecum would catch that stuff and tell the owner to correct it

Noted that the shell appears to have a hole for a factory rear antenna...paperwork shows D80 option (couldn't have both)...restored car has front antenna...just sayin... would be nice to have seen pics of the car prior to being stripped to a shell...or able to verify the identity of the shell as this car...
