Re: Charley Hutton and Cherokee Camaro at MCACN 2013
The yellow 67 Camaro with the 67 Chevy pickup was a drag car project. It does not look like it shares anything with the Cherokee. It's a coupe with American 5 spoke mags. Looks like a custom raised hood but not the same as the Cherokee hood.
The Cherokee in the CamAm pace car pic looks to have the custom turbine wheels, although it is hard to see them, they look to have the deeper offset like in the pic of the red interior Cherokee. The red interior Cherokee has a prototype 1968 SS style stripe (nose & side) with body color mirrors, Std steering wheel, custom deeper offset turbine wheels, etc. In the CamAm pic, looks to have pin stripes not the 68 SS stripe. The car was changed but hard to believe they made two as it looks like a custom made one off. They look too similar to be two differnt cars but hard to say for sure. |
Re: Charley Hutton and Cherokee Camaro at MCACN 2013
We are right on schedule with this one. I am told it is now out of the paint booth, and can only imagine what it looks like after Charley has done his magic.
Make it a point to see the cover come off of this notable Camaro when it is unveiled at the MCACN show Saturday morning, November 23. Thanks go out to Charley Hutton and of course, The Brothers Collection for adding even more excitement to our show! Bashton MCACN Managing Member |

This is one of my favorite cars. In my office, I have a water color of this car leading the 1967 Road America Can Am race.
The paint was looking a bit tired, I'm looking forward to seeing it now. Love the hood. |

I saw Charley walking around on Saturday while I was tending the LS6 Dave had just finished. I sure wish I had that mans talent when it came to paint!

Re: Charley Hutton and Cherokee Camaro at MCACN 2013
I took some time to talk with Charley Hutton and I can say he is such a genuinely nice guy! He spoke of how he was rather intimidated by the restoration aspect of the Cheetah, since his forte was going all out and not even attempting to duplicate original finishes. He talked about how frustrating it was matching all the different percentage black colors that were under the hood of GM cars. I laughed and brought him over to my Formula and showed him that none of the original finishes matched each other, even the inner fenders have a non-matching gloss levels. He laughed and said he wished he had known that beforehand.

Sorry I called the Cherokee, a Cheetah. My spell-cheeker doesn't like me any more....
Dammit, it just did it again. |

Sure looks like Charley L's arm got really long and is groping the model's right inner elbow. |
