Re: Welcoming my Newest Family Member to my Registry
This car is really cool.
I am always amazed when cars like this show up after 40+ years. Helmut: Better post a couple hunded pictures or we will bug the "heck" out of you. I like the skirt story......We are stomping around Puetro Rico today and am having a hard time not walking into traffic.....Had to take a "Time Out" and check sYc. I assume this Post Sedan will be at MCACN? If Bob Ashton asked nicely maybe Helmut would bring his whole collection, I can help by driving one of them to and from. (I will pay my own tickets) Congrats on this car, what a "sweet" survivor. Ryan |

But.......I want to hear about the 427 badges that are on the car! How many SS Post cars do you have in the registry now Dan? Kurt </div></div> The front SS427 grille emblem was from a 1967 Impala and the rear emblem was from a 1968 Impala. Side emblems are from a Corvette hood - if you have a flashlight and look real close, you can see the original 396 emblem holes. All emblems were new when the original owner put them on the car. The trim strip on the dash above the glove box still shows SS 396. The emblems, hood and fender replacement were the only changes made to the body. |

It also received a Hurst shifter, after market mechanical gauges for oil pressure, water temp, amps & fuel pressure, after-market radio/8-track (still have the original am radio), speakers on package shelf and tach on steering column. it has two toggle switches under the dash for the electric fuel pump and for the backup lights... remember when it was cool to run with your reverse lights on? Yellow fog lights behind the grill are wired as park/running lights, while the lights in the bumper still serve as signal lights.
Engine is 390 HP 427, has 2" headers, solid steel engine and tranny mounts, Edelbrock intake and Chevrolet street mechanical cam. Chevrolet deep groove hi-po pullys were added. Also has Lakewood scattersh1eild. Positraction was added to rear along with 4.30 ring & pinion. Has bolt on NMW ladder bars. Exhaust is straight 2 1/2 " pipe to mufflers. Exhaust dumps at rear end. Wheels are 8 1/2 x 15 American Torque Thrust. These particular wheels were made only for a short time as the center caps were held on from the backside compared to being screwed on from the front. The center caps were replaced by spinners, but still have the originals. Tires are L60x15 on rear and G60x15 on front. Car has air shocks but do not have any air in them. Front shocks are 90-10. All these day-two parts were added prior to 1974, including these tires. Brake pads front and back are stll the original ones that came on the car! |
Re: Welcoming my Newest Family Member to my Registry
In addition to the rear end gear selection, he mail ordered them......he wanted a gear that could keep up with the Olds / Pontiac 4.33:1 gears.
There are only original Day 2, Once! Dan |

Look at the similarity of the fuel pump location between your Post Sedan Chevelle and this one Dan </div></div> Yes.....that's the first thing I thought of. |

Sam, I will allow Helmut to tell you, however I will tell you that this 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan is one of only a hand full to have as much GM Documentation as it does especially since this Chevelle was ordered new from the original owner. Dan |
