How about this paint job at MCACN in the Corvette Mike booth? Some discussion/speculation about it being a GM show car that went to South Africa.

Cool paint.Nice color combo.

Not saying it was painted in the mid 60's when the car was new but there are some trends in that paint that that did not arise until the very late 60's/early 70's. Original pschyadhelic paint can be dated very accurately as trends usually only lasted 2 years or so before they were "dated" and people moved on. I would say very early 70's.

I would also bet that car had aftermarket mags on it but it appears the Corvette Restoration Police clamped down at some point.

Car needs some period aftermarket mags on it to tie the whole car in together.

Nice car though.

South Africa cars don't need to be quite so current.

VW Golf Mk1 – 1974-2009

The Volkswagen Golf Mk1 – begun in South Africa 25 years ago, spread world wide by VW lovers – has seen the end of its production run in 2009. The Golf is dead – LONG LIVE THE GOLF! Over 500,000 Golf Mk1′s have been produced since the 70′s – each one as groovy as its predecessor.

----The knock-offs are the wheels the car came with. They are dated to the car and were on the car when it arrived back in the US. The car was delivered to GMs South Africa distributer and supposedly used for promotional purposes. The question is weather the paint was applied by the GM distributer before the car was sold or after.......Bill S

Not a street car but I still love this paint job. I looked at it when it was at Mecum in Indy.

Nice
