I have an 824 with date code D-24-71
I didn't look at the stamp codes tonight. It is a Std 4.125 bore w/factory 4 bolt. I guess that is a little to later a date code for your project unless it is a replacement code.

Donnie, check that VIN stamp and engine code again...

JD is for a 69 Chevelle L78 4 speed...but the W in the VIN would indicate Nova application...the Novas were all JH motors...unless I'm missing something https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

the vin is down by the oil filter in the rough cast and its real hard to read.

Donnie, I think that answers the question...it is probably a Chevelle VIN then. I have never seen a Nova BB VIN in that location...perhaps it has an A or K instead of a W.
