Re: One less GTO Judge in the world now
WOW, know exactly where this happened. Looking at the background of pic 2 you can see the Minnesota State Fair watertower. Going thru all my LOL Musclecar Classic photos and havent found this car yet..

Re: One less GTO Judge in the world now
From another website.
"I work for the State Fair Police and the driver of the GTO died from the accident later on that night. They figured the car had a problem with the suspension and a tie rod end or something snapped and made the car take a hard left into a tree (taking the tree down) and then into the pole. That was what the witnesses said that happened." |
Re: One less GTO Judge in the world now
Very sad indeed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif
I can't see the left front side but the car is riding on Eagle STs and they haven't made those tires in over a decade. I hope it wasn't a age-related tire failure. |
Re: One less GTO Judge in the world now
I look at the pictures of this car and it brings back a lot of bad memories from back in my youth of friends being killed in muscle cars while racing on the street or just driving recklessly. I know I had a few extremely close calls myself. I personally am not buying the Tie Rod theory; A ten year old tire blowing out at high speed does makes sense...

[/ QUOTE ] this is a tragic loss of life it ran through a tree BEFORE it hit the pole??? that car was flying if the tree didn't slow him down and he still hit the pole at that rate of speed to incur THAT much damage ... sad, sad |
Re: One less GTO Judge in the world now
Wondering if anyone feels bad about their bad taste comments? Seriously, class it up fellas.
RIP |
Re: One less GTO Judge in the world now
I don't see anything wrong with the comments about the driver's speed and recklessness. He could have seriously injured someone else other than himself with the rate of speed that he was going. Thank god he did not hit a pedestrian or another vehicle.

Re: One less GTO Judge in the world now
I can personally attest that a 1978 GMC 4X4 will go through a telephone pole at about 60 miles an hour with no braking applied. I was the passenger, the truck was probably less than a year old and we were both liquored up enough that no one was injured. No seat belts in use, doubt I ever put a seat belt on until I went in the Air Force and was forced to. Couldnt imagine doing so now. We even tried to change the tire afterward but we couldn't get the old one off. We were on the way home from the county fair, it was a really good time and we were way to inebriated to be driving. Sometimes I wonder how I survived my youth, I think I am a little bit wiser now. Definitely don't drink and drive now, and don't condone it either.

No, not the telephone pole thing but yes the youthful beer-induced death-cheating thing. Nothing quite like a two-minute long beer piss on the side of the road saying, "Hurry, hurry!" to your buddies as you worried that a cop would pull up mid-piss. Laughing that hard at stupid stuff was great. Sorry for the hijack--we don't want this to devolve into a youthful beer-piss thread. |
