Fan blades were actually galvanized. However, No platers I know can do this. Clear zinc as mentioned is a good alternative.

Zinc in my opinion it too shinny and not like originals. I use a technique to get mine to look like galvanized metal just like drain plugs, trunk drop downs and backing plates.

What about the gas tank straps? Were they not galvanized on chevys ?

I only listed a few examples of some galvanized items, not all. Yes, some (but not all) Chevrolets are known to have come with galvanized gas tank straps.
