Terrible news...prayers and condolences to their family and friends..

As noted above, the ocean needs to be held in great respect or it's bite is often serious..
A few years back my best pal moved back to his roots in Cape Breton Canada to take over his family's Lobster/Crab boat business.. His tales of 'perfect storm' type high seas that appear out of nowhere and shaking hands goodbye w/ his shipmates on numerous occasions were enough for me to stay a landlubber..

I flew 3 years with the Coast Guard out of New Orleans, happens all the time. You would be surprised how many people drown that don't make the news. Poor planning(ie check the weather forecast), inadequate or no training, poorly maintained boats, or plain stupidity, usually a combination of all the above + throw in some beers.
