Pontiac was the only division that kept the records. I guess that means you need to go buy yourself a Goat. [/ QUOTE ] Not true - there still are plenty of fake Goats, and there are fake PHSs floating around. Your best insurance is to get a PHS for a prospective buy even if the seller has it himself. |
Re: My GM of Canada docs...
GM of Canada had all this information saved on microfilm. When we got the information on our COPO Chevelle back in the late '80s, They also sent a page showing our car info along with that of a lot of other cars. Several were also COPOs. The page appears to be printed directly from the microfilm. GM doesn't come out and verify that you have the car that is on the documentation. They are just saying that this particular VIN came with such and such options. No liability there. Some guys were making some money going around checking out cars verifying that the car in question was the real deal. Someone must have gotten burned in the process because I don't hear of people doing this any more. Too many good fakes I guess. We've had three of our cars GM of Canada documented. We also have the bill of sale for the one we bought new and have tracked down and talked to the original owners of the other two. This is the stuff that really makes things interesting. The stories from past owners is always great.
