The most expensive toll road in the USA is the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It costs $45.75 to go from Ohio state line to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, a distance of 193.76 miles

With a median annual household income of $27,034, the northern California town of Clearlake is the poorest town in the state. Clearlake's poverty rate of 35.9% is more than double the poverty rate of 15.1% across the state as a whole.

California has some of the most expensive real estate in the country. Home values are often a reflection of what area residents can afford, however Clearlake is the only town in the state where most homes are worth less than $100,000.

"Home to some of the wealthiest and some of the poorest towns in the United States, New York has the worst income inequality of any state. In New Square, a small town in southern New York, most households earn $24,000 a year or less. Meanwhile, less than 60 miles away, in the Long Island neighborhood of East Hills, the typical household earns $199,000 a year. New Square also has a poverty rate of 64.4% -- the highest in both the state and the country."

What is not in the description above is the reason for it's poverty. New Square is an all-Hasidic village in the town of Ramapo, Rockland County, New York. It is located north of Hillcrest, east of Viola, south of New Hempstead, and west of New City. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 6,944. Its inhabitants are predominantly members of the Skverer Hasidic movement who seek to maintain a Hasidic lifestyle disconnected from the secular world.

Being originally from NYS and travelling extensively throughout the entire state, I never heard of New Square . . . and I'm Jewish, but not a Hasidic Jew.

Australian researchers believe they have found an antidote to a sting from the world's most venomous creature, the much-feared box jellyfish. Running tests using human cells and mice, the team found it could stop tissue scarring and pain associated with the sting as long as the medicine was injected within 15 minutes.

This is a promotional photo Ford handed out in September 1968 when the Mach 1 debuted. Unfortunately they put GT caps on the wheels. Should be plain like the red one above it. Also the Shaker is missing the Engine Callout Emblem ("351" or "390" or "Cobra Jet") so this car is probably a pre-production car

Hard to believe that the movie The Shawshank Redemption (1994) is considered to have bombed. It brought in $16 million at the U.S. box office during its initial release, falling very short of recouping its $25 million budget.

Pontiac Motor Division made 6 production coupes and 6 production wagons. Of those two coupes have been recovered and restored (George Delorean's car, and the one shown here) and one wagon (from the former Randy Williams collection).

The car sold on Ebay, in its unrestored state, for $250,521.63. The seller initially did not know what he had and got quite an education from the various potential buyers.

Somebody on that design team really had a "jones" for the 1962 Corvair:

If you look ahead you can see, what appears to be, a 1968 Corvette but the license plate placement is different than the production car.

Krakatoa, East of Java is the title of an exciting movie (1968) about the 1883 eruption that caused the loudest sound ever heard on earth. Trouble is, the volcano is off the west coast of Java. Didn't anybody check this before they shot a whole movie about it?

There are four different South Poles on the continent Antarctica: The Geographic South Pole (where the earth's axis intersects Earth's crust), the Inaccessible South Pole (where Antarctica is farthest from the shoreline), the Geomagnetic South Pole (where the geomagnetic field intersects the Earth's surface), and the Magnetic South Pole (where Earth's magnetic fields intersect the crust). To further confuse you, because of magnetic drift, the magnetic south pole is constantly moving.

What Chevy Dealers Must Do To Qualify To Sell The Corvette C8

The programs are called "Corvette Dealer" and "Signature Corvette Dealer." A standard Corvette Dealer must invest around $5,000 for the privilege of selling the new Corvette. That includes all of the requisite training materials, a $3,500 trip for one sales representative to Spring Mountain Motorsports in Las Vegas for more in-depth training, and $1,500 in specialty tools for the new car.

The Signature Corvette Dealer program requires that a Service Manager or Service Advisor be sent to Spring Mountain as well, and demands compliance with something GM calls the "Corvette Participation Agreement." On the plus side, Signature Corvette Dealers will be showcased on Chevrolet's website for prospective customers.

Another opportunity, independent of either program, is participation in the C8 Mobile Tour. For $16,000 (for one day) or $25,000 (for two days), GM will send a pair of new C8 Corvettes, along with a factory-approved expert, to show the cars to prospective clients and assist in ordering new cars. These tours will begin before C8 production starts in December, and should offer a great opportunity for dealers to drum up interest.
