Hi Dan, (Postsedan)

This Monaco Orange Chevelle is very similar to one in Motorbooks International Muscle Car Color History CHEVELLE 1964-1972, owned by Gary Adkins Dresden Tennessee.

1969 300 Deluxe Monaco Orange, L78 L89 M22, the only differences I see are the aluminum trim around the doors, the lack of black side stripes, the tires, lack of overspray on the heads and intake, firewall markings 72-13427 vs 72-72-13427, and the lack of an antenna, to the one in the coffee table book.

Is the engine (torque strap) hold down brackets and wire rope a GM part? I don't remember ever seeing one.

I think the one from the book spent some time at Floyd Garrets. (not recently as I visited last year and no 300's, just Chuck Hanson's 69)

Ryan,

Here are a few pictures of the Adkins Monaco Orange SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan, which was pulled out of Floyd`s Museum sometime in 2012.

Since the Motorbooks International Muscle Car publication the Adkins Chevelle did receive the Black side stripe, and the Chevelle is no longer owned by Gary Adkins.

The other difference of the two 300`s is the interior, the Adkins Chevelle had the Black Vinyl Interior, while Greg`s has the more rare Black Cloth Interior.

Yes, GM did offer The Engine Stop Lift Cable Kit.....it was mainly used for the "Big Car" Market....it was offered for both the small block and big block engines.

Can I ask what might be a dumb question---and believe me I am certainly no expert on these cars---but didn't the 300 cars have different tailight housings? Or was that on cars that did not recieve the "SS" option? The cars shown here are WAY COOOOL and VERY WELL DONE. And by no means am I trying to bust anyone's ba##s, just asking about something that I thought I knew.
Awesome cars!!!
I just sold a '72 post 442 with a "U" code 455 (NOM). The car wasn't really nice enough for me to keep and not having the original drivetrain was the deciding factor in my NOT restoring it. Rare? YES. But just not as nice as what I like to keep.
