Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Could be a repost in the thread, but wanted to clear this up. Here is the Hurst Line Loc used on Ken Barnhart's car.
http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...Tx/hurstll.jpg Which is the same type my sister Monica has here: http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w.../linelock2.jpg Now I saw on ebay tonight that another type of old Hurst Line Lok sold for $270. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...NA%3AUS%3A1123 Looks like a similar box. http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...ollcontrol.jpg http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...llcontrol1.jpg Anyone have an idea what vintage this is? |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
That same Hurst Roll/Control i had bought new in the early 80's.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread

Here is a Nice close up pic of the car... |

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
I don't have any personal experience with that intake, but I have to say that it doesn't appear nearly as exciting as with the dual-quad top.
I am biased, since I've been running an old cross-ram on my 65 for a long time. I'm pretty certain there are faster single four intakes out there today, but I am sure I've made more power with this, than over the stock intake. http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...x/malibu22.jpg What kind of rear gear are you runnin? |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
A buddy of mine has one, I traded it to him last year. I owned it for several yrs. It is in great shape. Let me know if you are interested and I will see if he wants to sell it.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Way back when I used to mess with Mustangs.
65 Fastback with a 70 Boss 302 transplant. That 1150 carb with 4 accelerator pumps was too much so we had a single Holley top made for the intake later and it ran much better. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...s302in1975.jpg |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Hands down the best intake is that Z intake thats on the car, the ram piece is cool but a dog under 3500...stick some 3:55 gears in the car and put some woopazz on the street

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
I have did some reaserch on Smokeys intake & its 50/50 on it-some say its good-but a lot say its JUNK!I was just checking to see what that "Smokey Ram" intake would do, It looks so COOL-I have a Nice 4 Bolt main spare block that is near perfect& A set of "TURBO" Heads I plan I haveing that built to a MONSTER when I get some more parts for it -Im VERY happy with my combo now-especially with the 4:33 gears I have in the car I have had A few BBC's built up & had fun with um-but there is something about a Built sbc that Get's me all the time...

This thread is the best!
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Tommy</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Here are the crossmember bolts a friend gave me (he runs a set on his Nova too) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IM001677.jpg</div></div> What was the purpose of those? Just easier to get at when you're wrenching? |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Those Moroso Transmission Crossmember bolts are great. I've used them before and it's really a downer that they've been discontinued, but then again it's not too much hassle to make a set up with longer Grade 8 bolts and running a thin jam nut against the shank of the bolt. You could even tack-weld the jam nut in place if you'd like. Those longer bolts make it much easier to finger-start the bolts through those small holes in the framerails. I also like to fabricate a "nut plate" to go on top of the frame rails instead of using two standard small 3/8 nuts with an open end wrench balanced on them sight unseen. Just a simple strip of steel about 2.00 inches long, about .750 wide and about .375 thick with two drilled & tapped holes the correct distance apart. Once BOTH bolts are finger started, you no longer need a wrench on top of the bolts.....only a ratchet on the bottom transforms this into a simple one tool job!

Joe Stef at B&B Performance still builds and sells 'em. I've used them in all of my Camaros and Novas over the years.
