Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
BlownAway:
I told ya to run away from that car, didn't I?!? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif It was nothing against you, it's just that we've all been down this road a couple times already with this car...and whether it's dealing with the (then) owner, or the Ebay ad, or whatever, each time the story around that car gets bigger & better. As I said earlier, I wanted it to be legit *so bad*, but when you added it all up, it just never got close... |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
I'm curious, though, Jeff...at the beginning of this latest saga you were adamant in the *legitimacy* of that Chevelle, and that OUR opinions were wildly incorrect. After reading the last few pages and the case against the car, what is your current opinion?

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
later this week I will have an opinion...you fellas bring up a good case against it..Im not doubting anyone...I need to talk with Mike and find out exactly where this car came from.....let me ask you guys a question...what if Yenko took a malibu and pulled its engine and installed an L88 or some ungodly potent mill...then installed the required traction and go goodies to race in a Stock class...what is this car called....a Yenko race car........ a Yenko built car....what is it??...when Baldwin had Motion build a car it was called a Baldwin/Motion car........Nickey converted cars...whether or not this car is a COPO...what is it...lets do this for the fun of it...yeah this car sure does draw a lot of heat.......

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
If Yenko put that engine in at a later date it would be a neat car, but the fake paperwork kinda kills that senario. The fake looking stripes don't help either. I would think Yenko would have access to one of his stripe kits. We all wish it to be real but everything indicates it is not.

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
Aren't all the COPO Chevelle VINs known?? What is the VIN on this car? That'll clear it up real quick.

If the engine was installed at a later date and done by Yenko, it would be a desirable car but MUCH less than a predelivery installation. |
Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
This is deja vu! I remember talking to the NJ guy about 6 years ago, got the same story, arrived at the same conclusion. He was name droppin, but that doesn't make the car real https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: 1969 yenko chevelle on ebay
All COPO VINs are not known. I know one REAL COPO Chevelle stored away and the owner hasn't released the numbers to anyone. If the above car was converted from a Malibu, then a lot of side trim had to have been changed. That might be a little harder to hide. A check under the heater box might turn up some interesting numbers too. Another thing that I noticed was the price of the 9562 COPO option. Our 9566AA was $649. Guess I got a bargain.;)
