Steve
It was a pleasure to have met them at MCACN in 2016. Great Memories. Paul |

EDIT: I just googled the record and it looks like it was finally broken last year by a 17 year old kid after 54 years on the books! https://pokerrunsamerica.com/man-mac...-the-elements/ https://www.facebook.com/14837985483...1132711264836/ . |
Wow! Quite a life he had. Seems like he had a lot of fun. Sad to hear he passed. RIP
|
Thank you for sharing Steve...and may Enrico rest in peace. Prayers to his wife and family. What an amazing life he had!!:beers:

He was so much fun to talk to.
I would purposely get him into bench racing discussions just to set him off and listen to his old stories. When I told him that the guy that he sold the car to back in 1982 or so, had given the car a tuneup it didn't need and threw away the original distributor cap, Rick dug through his records, found the guys phone number and called him up and yelled at him after hanging up with me. Imagine having some random Octogenarian cold call you and start screaming at the top of his lungs about something that happened 30 years ago. It was priceless. He was that curmudgeonly, lovable grandpa that everyone wished they had. I was thinking about how to celebrate his life? I might have to save up some money and finally buy that set of new reproduction Goodyear Steelgard Radials that SmallHurst sells. The car needs to be driven more. Monday was the first time it left the garage this year. You think my son would forgive me if I didn't pay his college tuition installment this month? (in honor of Rick) :-) |

Sorry to hear about the original owner - sounds like a neat guy to say the least.

Steve I think we all know how we can remember and celebrate Ricks life: Give us all that guys phone number or address and we'll ALL call and write to that guy about that missing distributor, he'll get a thousand calls and letters on Monday. https://www.preludepower.com/forums/...ilies/turn.gif |
Just got off the phone with Rusty and ordered the set of G70x15 Steelgards. Hopefully they will be here this week in time for the last cruise of the year on Saturday.
Fingers crossed. |
----You will love them, Steve! True performance tires......Bill S
|
I ordered the tires on Sunday and they arrived today (Thursday). Just got them mounted on the original honeycombs and back on the car. Photos to follow in a day or two.
Thanks Rusty! |

Pretty good, though the local businesses in the nearly empty outlets were complaining we were taking business away????? It's actually the only time in recent memory that they had full parking lots there with actual humans walking around.
You do have to park nose-in because they the police were trying to keep spectators from getting run over if they were walking around in the road. I'll be there on Saturday hopefully with the SD. Around 3:30 to get a spot. They finally started the sidewalk replacement on Main Street... four months late, of course. That was the entire reason they had moved the cruise over to Stangl Road- to allow the construction to begin in May...er September. |

Here she is with her new shoes on. Enrico would be proud.
|
Looks amazing!!
Bet it drives like a new car!!! Ryan W31 |
Actually it does ride a lot smoother with the new Steelgards versus the 35 year old Eagle ST's. It rides like my Grampa's '71 Lincoln now, instead of my '95 3/4 ton Suburban. Whouda' thunk it?

Back from the cruise night. KevinW was there with his 69 327 Camaro convertible. Nice night for a cruise.

Steve,
What kind of PITA is it to balance those wheels? Thanks, Tim |

Steve, that’s good advice for anyone mounting any tires on any wheels on muscle cars whether that be From Magnum 500s to stamped steel factory, or anything offered before about the late 80s. They almost always need to be lug centric balanced. All the newer cars are hub centric due to the wheel being machined, but the old muscle car wheels can’t be done that way since that center hole is really only there to clear the dust cap and hold the center cap on and as such, isn’t centered.
Beautiful car! Sorry to hear about the original owner. You done good!! Cheers Dave |
Car looks great Steve. Thanks for the advice on the wheels.
|
Thank you! Actually, I have not gotten this set balanced as I couldn't find a local shop I could trust with them. I mounted them myself on my buddy's old machines but his balancer doesn't have a lug-centric mounting hub so I will have to wait.
BTW, I took Enrico's car out for a second drive this year. I went back to the local cruise night again, for their last cruise of the year which was the rescheduled Pontiac night from an earlier rain date back in July. Enrico's car got the Best Pontiac Trophy. :-) |
Sounds like you and the car had a great time, Steve. Hows it drive with unbalanced tires? ;)
I hope he haunts that car, the messages he'd write on the glass would be hilarious. Quote:

I has the typical out of balance condition at around 50 mph and phases out of it at 55. Other than that it's fine.
Yes, Enrico is still critiquing from his great workshop in the sky. That's why I bought the new tires. He would consider that an appropriate toast to his "relocation" rather than just tipping an alcoholic beverage. Cheers! |
In case anyone is interested, I have put the SD455 Formula up for sale. Here is the listing:
