...not that it's a competition, but you're the winner so far on "most awesome first car"

1966 roadster , Divco truck frame with handmade all steel body (pictures circa 67 - 73 ish). First engine 406 Ford with tri - power from 62 Ford . In 69 got a 68 396/375 MQ shortblock with aluminum heads added turning the L78 into an L89 with a M/T crossram to top it off. Center picture is me in 1969 not long after the Ford to Chevy transplant . My dad in picture above couple years earlier .

Ha!

I can do that, too (although I'm not totally sure this would be my first car).

Looks like it needed some work done.

Yes it was. Oddly enough, Jerry M. Was one of the guys in the crowd. We all hung at the Burger King and other spots like that. Nobody knew what the car actually was at that time. Sure would like to find it. Before I am too old to take it for another blast. Still friends with my buddy that drove it home that night. I was about a month shy in getting my license. All true!

Fortunately my Dad signed for me. Payments were I recall 63.00 a month and I paid every cent of them. It was advertised in the local newspaper classified section. Originally, I was trying to buy a GTO, 69 I believe. It had a 427 stuffed under the hood. Dad had heard a description of it and said he wouldn’t sign because it looked and sounded like a race car. The Yenko would have run circles around that GTO. Gosh, seat belts? No way. We didn’t even consider wearing them then. Amazing I didn’t get hurt in that car.

64 Vette first car I had back in 1977. Had a 67 front end, flares and a 396/375 out of a 68 Camaro. Second picture is when I saw it again around 1995… Should have bought it back, I messed up!

4th of July parade 1975ish . Was around this time I was around 11 or 12 my dad told me to go in the garage and pick out something red I would like to have . Had to choose between a new red Schwinn 10 speed a wheel barrel or the roadster . I picked the roadster , was happy to keep pedaling my 3 speed bike . Ended up getting the ten speed later after all and dad kept his end of bargain after all conditions and stipulations were met . Thanks pops !

So cool. My first car was "almost" a green Yenko Nova. Dad and I looked at it and drove it but it was $1200 and he wouldn't cover the delta. Plus he thought it was too much for a first car. I ended up with a $250 67 Camaro 327 which was still ok, and probably why I survived. ;)
