Rex, they were probably for Grand Sport Corvette, Chaparral, or simply for development/experimentation. I guess Indy is another possibility since Smokey did try a "stock block" Chevy there.

I went to Napa store yesterday and looked at the filters...we always use the longer truck style filter...Napa gold/black filter...made in china. They had a Wix version, but the box said 'not intended...

Quiet Ride makes the only pad that I would even consider using in my opinion. You have to buy through their dealers which is not a big deal. Part number GMF 6869-HC. More expensive but way better...
